A tactile illustration is more
complex than it seems. It must correspond to the way of exploring the world by
Blind Children, but also to their experience of the world. However we do not
know so much about, for example, their exploratory strategies of a book, about
their memory capacity, about what kind of representation they have in their
mind and so on.
To find answers to all these questions that we are confronted with every day
while working on our TiBs, we created the Center Amandine, a multi-disciplinary
research centre, and we ensured partnerships with various French and foreign
universities.
Ongoing research :
·In partnership with the LEAD-CNRS of the university of Dijon, we
launched a vast international three-year project on the mental representations
of blind children.
·In partnership with the LPNC-CNRS of the university of Grenoble, the
LEAD-CNRS of the university of Dijon, the department of Educational Science of
Rennes, the Culture-Picture-Cognition Centre of the University of Paris1-Sorbonne,
we started research: Tactile images at your finger-tips: the blind child, the
family, the school and illustrated tactile books.
·In partnership with the LPNC-CNRS of the
university of Grenoble, research into typicality.
· In partnership with the LPNC-CNRS of the
university of Grenoble, research comparing the efficacy of a tactile picture
according the technique used.
· In partnership with the LEAD-CNRS of the
university of Dijon, the LPNC-CNRS of the university of Grenoble, the
departmentt of Special Education of the university of Padua, research about the
TiB as a link between the mother and the blind infant.
The results will
be published in our collection CORPUS TACTILIS: paper version in French, on
this website in English.
